Why Netflix content varies in different countries

Netflix is the number one streaming service in the world that offers a great selection of movies, TV shows, documentaries, and original programming. But there is a big challenge about the service and that’s called Geo-blocking. Now the question is: What is Geo-blocking?

Geo-blocking restriction means that the availability of specific internet content becomes limited to a geographical location. Content producers restrict access to a particular location mostly because of copyright, licensing, price discrimination, or to block illegal content. Netflix, as an international streaming service uses geo-blocking, and its content varies in different countries. In fact, there is a big difference between Netflix of America, Turkey, Japan, Canada, Australia and etc. As you may already know, American Netflix has the broadest catalog with lots of interesting content you’d want to watch. This is the only reason why most of Netflix’s users like to be able to access the US Netflix library.

We have an article about the difference between US Netflix and Australian Netflix and another one about the difference between American and Canadian Netflix which you can read to gain more information about this matter.

Netflix implements Geo-blocking from IP addresses. Users could bypass this restriction by changing their IP addresses by using a Netflix VPN or Proxy. But since 2016 Netflix started to ban VPNs and Proxies pressured by movie copyright holders. This is why most free VPNs don’t work with Netflix or even many of the paid ones stop working after a while.

Wachee is an exclusive VPN for streaming services like Netflix. There is no need to search for servers that work on Netflix, each and every one of Wachee’s servers unblock Netflix faster than any other VPN and allows you to access the biggest library of Netflix which is the US one.
